The glamorous North-East...

Ah! Newcastle!  Party city!  And so glamorous.  This mainly Victorian city centre is pretending to be Georgian - and if it reminds you strongly of wonderful Georgian Bath, that's because most of Georgian Bath's city centre is actually Victorian too.  The golden sandstone and non-classical column combinations take me back.....

For more glmaour, try these: the Coast and -yes! - Sundreland.

Grey Street Newcastle
Grey's Monument

Standing in Grey Street, looking along Market Street.  Note archetypal British weather.
The Monument.  It's to Earl Grey -yes, the Earl Grey - and like the Monument to the Great Fire in London, you can climb up inside it and stand on the viewing platform at the top.  (You can just see the railings in this pciture).   It's very pretty at Christmas with sparkling lights running up all the fluting on the sides.

Baltic
 Glittering waters
The Baltic art gallery, seen from the Millennium bridge.
Same day, different view.  It was unbearably bright standing here.
